Things to do during a break
Exams are over so here come endless (5 Weeks) days of sleeping late and waking up late. Days of no homework and studying and they'll most probably be the most wonderful days of my life.
Now the above situation is what I'd generally tell myself every time I'm on a break but I'd usually end up rotting away in my room. A potato's gotta do what a potato's gotta do, even if that means being part potato and pig. This time though, I'm gonna use these few weeks to really achieve some goals before I start a new semester. So here a few things I'm gonna do during my holiday that you can try with me.
1. Get Fit
This is the number 1 thing that everyone tells themselves that they'll do during the holiday but never happens; myself included. Here's the thing, the trick to getting fit is to be specific with your goals. I typically don't measure how fit I am based on the amount of weight I've lost. Usually, I set a specific routine to complete and I try to do it every day or so. So it's lunges, crunches, a little cardio and some calf raises. I'd suggest looking up some fitness routine's you'd like to do that would suit you best to get the best results.
2. Start a new hobby
Painting and crafting are my go-to hobbies to calm myself down. I can usually sit at my table for hours working on one piece at a time. Investing your time in a hobby can be extremely therapeutic, it takes your mind off of things and allows you to completely concentrate on you and what you want to achieve at that specific time. So in a way, it taps into your subconscious whether you realise it or not. A hobby, if you don't already know, is doing something you like to do during your free time. Hobbies, in my opinion, make you focus on yourself which really gets you in tune with your inner self. In other words, its a pretty good thing to invest in if you're looking for self-growth.
3. Work
Part time jobs are pretty awesome, to me at least. I'll be the first to admit that working can be tiring and sometimes your colleagues might be just borderline annoying but it's all for the cash. There's something extremely satisfying about being able to earn your own cash and spend it. That little sense of independency is both empowering and satisfying. Now that might not be how you see it, but what's better than getting cash right?
4. Go on a vacation
Vacations are the BEST way, in my opinion, to rejuvenate and relax. Being away from the city, a place I associate work with, is something I'm dying to do. Beyond anything, I'm itching to feel the sand beneath my feet and the breeze in my hair. I have a ton of things I wanna do when I get to the beach like have a little bonfire, a barbecue but most importantly spend time with the people I cherish in my life. Vacations are one of the best ways to bond with people, you get to spend time with each other without unnecessary distractions. It's also the best kind of what I'd like to call a 'reset' button, something everyone needs once in a while.
5. Catch up with your ZZZs
This is incredibly obvious but a good night's rest is what we all need. Lets face it, this is the least likely thing that will happen but sleep is the one thing that you can catch up on during the holidays. Take advantage of that and get rid of your sleep debt. Peaceful music sometimes helps with letting yourself relax. Essential oils help a lot too, I'd recommend using Lavender to relax. So cuddle up with your favourite pillow or person and catch up on that much needed Zzz soldier.
6. Catch up on series you've missed out on
Now I couldn't really be bothered about what kind of series you've missed out on but holidays are the BEST time to enjoy and emotionally invest in watching series. Korean, Chinese, Cantonese, English... Whatever kind of TV drama series that suits you, go ahead and watch it. Me personally, I'm gonna catch up on Devious Maids, The Originals, probably start on Suits, Descendants of The Sun and some Chinese Drama that's showing on TV right now.
So there you have it 6 things, I'll be doing during my holiday. Hopefully this might help you figure out what you can do during your break. So for those who are on a break, enjoy your holiday cause I know I am. Thank you for reading once again and I hope you have a great day ahead :)
Sincerely,
Siemone
